There are lots of different ways to get published, but I would suggest getting started with self-publishing. I think this is an excellent way to get to know the industry and understand just how much hard work goes into writing and publishing a book. There are many ways to source information, i.e Reddit.com (reddit.com/r/selfpublish) and google.com – you need to also be able to ask yourself the right questions. I find you will only truly understand this if you do the work yourself. I started with self-publishing, so there is no reason that you can’t!

I would recommend starting a social media page to share your poetry and try to build up an audience. This will prove there are people resonating with your writing and supporting your book/poetry. If your goal is to sell a book, then you need to be able to prove you have an audience and interest in your work.

I co-own a boutique literary agency called Pepperbooks with my business partner James. You are more than welcome to submit your manuscript to PEPPERBOOKS SUBMISSIONS provided it meets our guidelines. Should you be considered a fit for our agency, someone will be in touch.

I love hearing from you, reading your stories and how you connect with the books. You can write to me via courtney@pepperbooks.org

I announce all my events via social media @courtneypeppernell and on my website - stay tuned for future events and appearances to be announced.
